Diomande Snubs Liverpool: PSG Close to Sealing Blockbuster Deal as Reds Launch Desperate Late Bid

Liverpool's hopes of landing Yan Diomande have been dealt a crushing blow, with the PSG-bound winger showing no interest in a last-gasp Anfield switch despite the Reds' frantic efforts to hijack the deal.

The 19-year-old Ivorian had been Liverpool's primary flanking target this summer following Mohamed Salah's departure after his contract was terminated. Diomande's pedigree on the right wing made him the obvious candidate to fill the gaping void left by the Egyptian's exit.

An initial €100m bid—variously reported as €90m plus €10m add-ons or €80m plus €20m add-ons—was swiftly rejected by Leipzig. But when Diomande signalled his preference for Paris, the writing appeared firmly on the wall for the Reds.

Yet Merseyside's new management weren't quite ready to surrender. Liverpool, alongside Arsenal and Manchester City, have made late-window approaches in a bid to convince the teenager to reconsider. The Reds, having already tabled serious money, remained the most plausible alternative.

The problem? Diomande's decision is final. His heart is set on the French capital, and no amount of English persuasion will shift that stance.

PSG, meanwhile, have ramped up the pressure at their end. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has personally taken the reins of negotiations with Leipzig, leveraging his established relationship with Red Bull's hierarchy to accelerate progress. The strategy is working. Leipzig have internally accepted that Diomande's departure is imminent, and the two clubs are now circling an agreement.

PSG are prepared to splash roughly €110m to get this over the line—a figure that appears to have convinced the Bundesliga outfit that the time has come to cash in.

With Diomande slipping through their fingers, Liverpool are expected to redirect their summer shopping list. Bradley Barcola, the PSG forward, now looms as a potential alternative target. The France international has hit an impasse with his current employers over contract renewal terms and could be available for the right price if PSG decide to free up funds following Diomande's arrival.
